The Jesuits are a worldwide Catholic
order of priests and brothers, founded
by Ignatius of Loyola and nine
companions in 1540.
At present, there are about 19,800
Jesuits in the world, covering six
continents and over one-hundred
countries.
Due to a broad original vision, the
Jesuits have developed a wide network of
ministries – and are involved in social,
spiritual, educational, pastoral, media
and communication ministries.
